Objective 5 - Cranial Flashcards
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Flexion
Rotate in opposite directions about their 2 transverse axis. Sacral extension (counternutation)
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Extension
Rotate in opposite directions about their 2 transverse axis. Sacral flexion (nutation)
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Torsion
Rotate is opposite directions around 1 AP axis.
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Sidebending/Rotation
Rotate in the same direction about an AP axis and rotate in opposite direction around 2 vertical axis
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Lateral Strain
Rotate same direction around 2 parallel vertical axis
Cranial SBS Dysfunction:
Vertical Shear
Rotate in the same direction about their transverse axis
SBS Flexion - Skull ??
Skull widens laterally
Shortens AP diameter
SBS Extension - Skull??
Skull narrows laterally
Lengthens AP diameter
Cranial: Palpatory
Flexion
Paired bones move into external rotation (don’t think extension)
Wrists flex
Cranial: Palpatory
Extension
Paired bones move into internal rotation
Wrists extend
Cranial: Palpatory
Torsion
Hands rotate in opposite directions; Torsion named for higher sphenoid
Cranial: Palpatory
SB/Rotation
Fingers on concave side appear closer together. Fingers of convex side are wider and inferior.
Cranial: Palpatory
Lateral Strain
Parralelogram; little fingers move laterally and point to side of lateral strain
Cranial: Palpatory Vertical shear (superior/inferior)
Superior - hands rotate anteriorly; wrists are superior
Inferior - hands rotate posterioly; wrists are inferior
