Objective 13 - CRI, PRM, Vault Hold, CV4 Flashcards
What is the normal CRI?
10-14 cycles/minute
What are the 5 components of the primary respiratory mechanism?
- Inherent motility of the brain and spinal cord.
- The fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid.
- The mobility of the intracranial and intraspinal membranes.
- The articular mobility of the cranial bones.
- The involuntary mobility of the sacrum between the ilia.
Where is the index finger placed during vault hold?
Greater wings of the sphenoid
Where is the middle finger placed during vault hold?
zygomatic process of the temporal bones
Where is the ring finger placed during vault hold?
Mastoid process of the temporal bones
Where is the little finger placed during vault hold?
Squamous portion of the occiput
Where is the thenar eminences placed during vault hold?
parietal bones
Where is the thumb placed during vault hold?
extend up the frontal bone
What is the indication for CV-4?
- Increase rate and amplitude of CRI
- General relaxation
What are the contraindications for CV-4?
Recent cranial trauma
Cerebral hemorrhage
Malignant HTN
(lowers intracranial pressure)
How is the CV-4 performed?
Physician cradles patient’s occipital squama with thenar eminences posteromedial to occipitomastoid sutures. Encourage extension. Resist flexion.
