Objective 18 - Fatigue and Pain Syndromes Flashcards
How would you differentiate fibromyalgia from myofascial pain syndrome?
Fibromyalgia has multiple bilateral tenderpoints, more common in females (10:1) with systemic features. Myofascial pain syndrome has trigger points, regionalization and 1:1 ratio in males and females.
How would you differentiate fibromyalgia from chronic fatigue syndrome?
Chronic fatigue syndrome is usually preceded by a viral illness and at least 4 of the following: decreased memory/concentration, sore throat, tender cervical or axillary nodes, multijoint pain, new HA, postexertion malaise, nonrestorative sleep and muscle pain.
What differentiates Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ?
Chronic pain condition affecting one limb thought to be caused by damage to PNS and CNS. Related with mild/dramatic changes in skin color, temperature and swelling.
