What do we teach clients about ‘control techniques’?

A
  • Should always be appropriate to the dogs temperament and appropriate in relation to the situation e.g. ‘Balance of Scales’.
  • Vocal commands should always be clear and allow the dog adequate time to respond.
  • The Handler should ensure the dog performs the correct response to each command.
  • The Handler should provide praise in appropriate circumstances to positively reinforce correct behaviours.
  • Timing for corrections and praise is vital.
