Milgram’s study
- 40 American men volunteers
- participants thought study was about memory and was conducted in a lab
- Pairs design with one confederate (student) and one participant (teacher)
- experiment told teacher to shock student for incorrect answers (shock was fake)
- found 65% completely obeyed to 450v
- all delivered at least 300v

what variations to the baseline study are there
A
- in different country’s conformity changes, USA had 65% while Australia had 15%.
- Haslam gave no incentive to continue and found conformity decreased.
- King replicated study with a puppy being given real shocks, 54% men and 100%woman deliver fatal shocks.
