painful, swollen and tender, eventually affecting all fingers
stiffness
bony thickening in DIP (Heberden’s nodes)
dorsal ganglion cyst (mucous cyst)
PIP bony swelling (Bouchard’s nodes- also seen in RA)
MCP rarely affected unless previous injury, occupational stress, gout or infection
