AOR covers almost one-fifth of the planet, including all of Europe, large portions of Asia, parts of the Middle East and the Arctic & Atlantic Oceans. Responsible for US military relations w/ NATO & 51 countries.
US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM)

includes air, land and sea approaches and encompasses the continental US, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and the surrounding water out to approx. 500 nautical miles. Plans, org’s and executes homeland defense & civil support missions. Also commands NORAD, bi-national command responsible for aerospace warning, control, and maritime warning for Canada, Alaska, and the Cont. US. Protects and defends the territory of the US, its people, and its interests. is committed to enhancing stability in the Asia-Pacific region. Approach is based on partnership, presence, and military readiness.

Responsible for providing contingency planning, ops, and security cooperation for Central and South America, the Caribbean, Cuba. Also, responsible for ensuring the defense of the Panama Canal and canal area.
US Transportation Cmd (USTRANSCOM)

Single Manager of America’s global defense trans system. Tasked w/the coordination of people and transportation assets to allow the US to project and sustain forces, whenever, wherever, and for as long as they are needed.

Charged w/space ops (such as military satellites), info ops (info warfare), missile defense, global command and control, intel, surveillance, and reconnaissance, global strike and strategic deterrence (US nuclear arsenal), and combating WMD’s.

organizes, trains, equips, and deploys combat ready forces to support combatant commanders around the globe. Provides air defense forces to North American Aerospace Defense Command. To accomplish the objectives of the National Defense Strategy, it ops fighter; attack; bomber; intel; surveillance and recon; combat search & rescue; battle-management; electronic-combat and UAV’s.

Develops America’s Airmen today, for tomorrow. Sustains the combat capability of the operational AF w/highly-trained and motivated Airmen, recalls individual ready reservists, and manages mobility and contingency tasking support for combatant commanders.
Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC)

HQ: Barksdale AFB, LA
AF’s newest command. Develops & provides combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike ops-safe, secure, effective-to support the POTUS and combatant commanders. Responsible for organizing, training, and equipping the AF’s three intercontinental ballistic missile wings, two B-52 Stratofortress wings and the only B-2 Spirit wing (make up 2/3’s of the nation’s strategic nuclear triad by providing the land-based & airborne nuclear deterrent forces.

delivers war-winning technology, acquisition support, sustainment and expeditionary capabilities to the warfighter. Conducts R&D, and test and evaluation, and provides acquisition management services and logistics support necessary to keep AF weapon systems ready for war.
Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC)

HQ: Robins AFB, GA
provides the AF about 20% of its capability w/only about 4% of the total AF budget, while spanning a wide variety of missions. conducts aerial spray msns, flies hurricane hunter msns for the National Weather Service, and is admin responsible for the AF’s individual mobilization augmentee program.

organizes, trains, and equips mission-ready space & cyberspace forces and capabilities for North American Aerospace Defense Cmd, US Strategic Cmd, and other combatant cmds world-wide. Oversees AF network ops to provide capabilities in, through and from cyberspace; manages a global network of satellites and is responsible for space system development and acquisition.
