Anthropometric
The measurement of the human body – primarily height, weight and areas of the body such as hip, waist and upper arms. The measurement of height, weight skinfold thickness provide some information about a person’s protein and energy intake
Biochemical
This involves conducting a number of laboratory tests to find out what is happening to the body internally. Common tests are based on analysis of blood and urine samples. Blood and urine are used to measure nutrients levels such as glucose, fats, minerals or metabolic products such as haemoglobin.
Clinical
Clinical assessment or physical examination reveals signs of nutrient deficiency or toxicity. Being examined by a doctor and have medical history taken. There are some physical signs that indicate possible nutritional deficiency or excesses. These are signs of good and poor nutrition that can be observed on different parts of the body.
DIETARY
Dietary assessments are taken by a nutritionist or dietician, information about diet, allergies and family history of nutrition related diseases is collected. Additionally, is the process of evaluating food intake.
Epidemiological data
