COMMON COLDS
● A decrease in the normal stooling habits of a
person
● Having fewer than three bowel movements in a
week
CONSTIPATION
● Frequent passing of watery stools
● Goal: fluid replacement, avoid DHN
DIARRHEA
● Body temperature that is higher than normal
● Not a disease
FEVER
● Excessive intestinal gas production
● Form of hydrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide
FLATULENCE
● Your body has a hard time digesting food or an
ingredient in it
● Hypersensitivity to certain food that do not involve
the immune systems as mentioned under food
allergies
FOOD INTOLERANCE
● “Dyspepsia”
● Any discomfort in the stomach that upsets gastric
digestion
INDIGESTION
● Commonly known as “u”
● Infectious disease of respiratory tract caused by
influenza virus A, B, or C
INFLUENZA
● Acute generalized viral infection dx by the sudden
onset of painful swelling in one or both parotid
glands
● Hallmarks sx: swelling of salivary gland
MUMPS
uneasiness of the stomach that often
comes before vomiting
Nausea
is the forcible voluntary or involuntary
emptying(“throwing up”) of the stomach contents
through the mouth
Vomiting
● Temporary stopping of breath while sleeping
● More common in men
● People with sleep apnea have at least 15 episodes
or more of not being able to breathe each hour while
they’re sleeping
● Types:
○ Obstructive sleep apnea (most
common)
○ Central sleep apnea
○ Mixed sleep apnea
