Numbers and equations Flashcards
What are isotopes?
Atoms with a different number of neutrons (mass) but the same physical properties with different chemical properties.
What is the mass number?
The total number of protons and neutrons.
What is the calculation for the percentage yield?
Maximum amount of product possible
What is the point of the haber process?
To turn nitrogen in the air into ammonia which we can use in many different ways for example to make fertilisers.
What are the materials for making ammonia?
Nitrogen from the air and hydrogen from natural gas.
What happens during the Haber process?
The nitrogen and hydrogen are purified and then passed over and I am catalysts at high temperatures and pressures.
How is ammonia removed from the reaction mixture?
It is cooled and liquefied as soon as possible.
