What is stopping the UK from only using renewables?

• have to use it for things like heating homes and petrol and diesel cars
• building renewable power plants cost money, either through tax, or bills some people don’t want to or can’t pay these
• arguments to where to put new power plants, people might not want to live next to a wind farm, also ethical arguments , people may not agree with the uses of wind turbines
• some renewable resources are not reliable, can combine different ones but this’ll cost money
• research on improving reliability requires time and money
• Hybrid/ electric cars more expensive than petrol
