Investigating factors affecting reistance Flashcards
1
Q
how to investigate factors affecting resistance
A
Set up a circuit with ammeter in series and voltmeter in parallel
- Attach a crocodile clip to the wire at 0cm on a ruler
- Add a second crocodile clip to the wire 10cm away from the first one, and mark the length between the clips
- Close the switch then record the current through the wire and voltage across it
- Open the switch, then move the second crocodile clip a few cm along the wire, record the new length current and voltage
- Repeat for a number of different lengths of wire

Q
what conclusions do you get from this experiment
A
- resistance is directly proportional to length, the longer the wire, the higher the resistance
