What is raloxifene?

A

An oral selective estrogen receptor modulator with estrogenic actions on bond and anti-estrogenic actions on the uterus and bone.

It is used for the treatment and prevention of post-menopausal osteoporosis.

It is recommended as an alternative treatment option for women in whom alendronic acid and risedronate are contraindicated.

The dose is 60mg once daily.

It should be avoided in breast cancer, and those who have risk factors for venous thromboembolism.
