NOTAMs Flashcards
What does NOTAM stand for?
NOtice To Air Men
Today: NOtice to Air Missions (but not in Canada formally yet)
What does a NOTAM do?
It warns pilots when circumstances are not going to be as expected. So for example, an airport that always has fuel might issue in NOTAM when there is no fuel.
What format are NOTAMs issued in?
ICAO
What’s the downside of ICAO format?
Lots of “noise” and layers of information that isn’t needed, so can be confusing.
There is one NOTAM in Canada that follows the old format (non-ICAO format). What is it?
Runway Surface Condition (RSC) and Canadian Runway Friction Index (CFRI).
