What does the term Classico indicate in Italian Label?

A

The term Classico acknowledges wines that have been made solely from the original classified land and includes many of the best wines of the area. Wine outside this area is the expansion zones often of lower quality.

Red wine is often dry or off dry, full bodied, with high alcohol and intensity, concentrated with red fruits and spice.

Why could this wine be off dry?

A

The grapes are so concentrated with sugar due to the passito process that it can be impossible to fully ferment this wine to dryness.

The passito process is used to increase structure and flavor by picking grapes early,dry them indoors,concentrating the sugar and flavours.The result is greater alcohol and a fuller body.
