what are the causes of normocytic anaemia?
A
o Anaemia of chronic disease o Chronic kidney disease o Aplastic anaemia o Sickle cell anaemia o Haemolytic anaemia o Acute blood loss o Pregnancy o Fluid overload

what are the presenting symptoms of normocytic anaemia?
A
• Non-Specific o Tiredness o Lethargy o Malaise o Dyspnoea o Pallor

what are the signs of anaemia?
A
o Pallor
o Brittle nails and hair
o Koilonychia

what investigations are needed?
A
- FBC - check Hb and MCV
- Check reticulocytes (raised in sickle cell)
- Check iron status: serum transferrin, ferritin TIBC.
- Check history for haemorrhage

how should renal anaemia be managed?
A
- Referral to renal team is necessary
- EPO should be prescribed
