Describe adjuvant therapy
Post operative
Chemo = increase chance of cure
Who can be given SABR and what does it do?
For unfit patients and involves giving high dose over a period of a week. Only for tumours up to 4cm
What are one of the ways to measure Qol?
Painful bone metastases - RT single fraction
Brain mets. – resection, RT, steroids or erlotinib?
For SCLC, what combination of drugs is commonly used?
Combination of drugs eg. cisplatin+ etoposide
What are the side effects of chemo?
Marrow suppression (+ rosk of life threatening infection)
Nausea. Vomiting. GI upset. Mucositis. Fatigue. Lethargy.
Neuropathy. Increased risk MI/stroke. Renal impairment.
Hair loss. Nail changes.
What are the side effects of radiotherapy?
General: Lethargy. Risk to surrounding organs
Acute: pneumonitis. Dysphagia
Late: Fibrosis. Stricture. Increased risk MI. 2nd malignancies
What are common side effects of immunotherpy?
colitis, pneumonitis, dermatitis, endocrinopathies
What does lung cancer screening involve?
For at risk population and involves low dose Ct.
