b. Communication and Informations Management

A

Based on concepts of:

  • Interoperability
    • Allows emerg. mgmt to communicate within and across agencies via voice, data, or video in real time
  • Reliability; Scalability; Portability
    • Systems designed to be flexible, reliable, and scalable for any type, regardless of cause, size, location or complexity
    • Portability - Allows for integration, transport, and deployment of comm; Includes standard assign. of radio channels across jurisd.
    • Scalability - Allows increase in # of users on system
  • Resiliency and Redundancy
    • Resiliency - Ability of comm systems to continue to perform after damage or loss of infrastructure
    • Redundancy - Duplication of identical services and alternative methods of comm

  • Does not have operational responsibilities
A
  • Develops broad objectives for impacted area
  • Coordinates the development of individual incident objectives and strategies
  • (Re)allocates resources
  • Ensures incidents are properly managed
  • Ensures effective communication
  • Ensures that incident management objectives are met and do not conflict
