  • outdated: ignores number of people who choose to adopt non traditional gender roles and see this as positive
  • ignores negative impact of family: dark side of family by gender roles and natural roles
  • glorify past : gender roles and relationships outside of marriage has always existed but concealed and those who did not fit conventional family recieved harsh treatment not acceptable today
  • making value judgment : see nuclear family as superior
