New OSF-St. James New Protocol Medications Flashcards
1
Q
Class of amiodarone.
A
Class III antidysrhythmic. Acts as an AV node blockade agent. This prolongs the PRI and QTI. Used in life threatening tachydysrhythmias.
2
Q
Contraindications of amiodarone.
A
- sinus bradycardia (don’t want to knock out the conduction of SA to AV nodes)
- Second/third degree heart block (same reasoning as above)
- CHF (decreased HR leads to stagnant blood in pulmonary circuit, increasing risk of pulmonary edema)
3
Q
Class of calcium chloride.
A
Electrolyte
4
Q
Indications for calcium chloride
A
- hyperkalemia
- hypocalcemia
- calcium channel blocker OD
- cardiac arrest w/Renal Failure Hx
5
