Neurons Flashcards
What does a neuron include?
Cell body(organelles), dendrite(receives info) and axon (maintain shape)
What do dendrites and cell body provide?
Receptive surfaces
What are the 3 major neurons (structually)
Multipolar neurons(found within CNS) Bipolar neurons (some in sensory neurons) Unipolar neurons (Mainly in sensory neurons)
Where are interneurons and what do they do?
In the brain or spinal cord
They’re multipolar
Link other neurons from one part of brain or spinal cord to another
What are the 3 major neurons (functionally)
Sensory neurons
Interneurons
Motor neurons
What does sensory neurons do?
Impulses from peripheral body part into brain or spinal cord (unipolar or bipolar)
What does motor neurons do?
Conduct impulses out of brain or spinal cord to effectors
(multipolar)
Control muscle contraction and secretin of glands
