Secondary prevention drugs for patients with peripheral arterial disease?
75mg clopidogrel
80mg atorvastatin
Suspected SAH investigations:
CT: hyperdense / bright
if CT negative: LP (at least 12 hours following onset of symptoms)
Management of SAH:
Coil - interventional radiologists
Neurosurgeon - craniotomy / clipping
Control blood pressure - NIMODIPINE
Aortic aneurysm screening outcomes:
<3cm: no further action 3-4.4: rescan every 12 months 4.5-5.4: rescan every 3 months >5.5: refer within 2 weeks to vascular surgeons refer if rapidly enlarging (>1cm/year)
What is a marjolin’s ulcer?
squamous cell carcinoma occuring at site of chronic inflammation after 10-20 years
What is Takayasu’s arteritis?
large vessel granulomatous vasculitis - most commonly affects young asian females. Presents with mild systemic illness followed by pulseless phase with symptoms of vascular insufficiency,
Treatment - systemic steroids
