Nervous System--Structure Of The Eye Flashcards
Know the structure of the eye.
Sclera
White part
Covers and protects eyeball
Pupil
Hole
Iris
Like camera 📸 Aperture. Must be dark enough to not reflect all the light incident on the eye
Cornea
Thin, transparent covering of eyeball.
Chief refracting
/Focusing of the eye
2/3 of the optical power of EYE is in the Cornea and 1/3 is in Lens.
Lens
Regulates Focus for near/far
Fovea
Part of the retina corresponding to central part of visual field
Optic disc
Part of the retina corresponding to blindspot
Optic nerve
Ganglion cell axons that exit through the optic disc.
Anterior chamber/Aqueous humor
Fluid filled region in front of lens
Nourished and cushions lens & cornea
Posterior chamber/ vitreous humor
Fluid(jelly-like) filled region behind lens, transmits light
