1
Q
Define Filtrate
A
Cell-free fluid extracted from body fluid by the excretory system
2
Q
What are the 3 processes of urine formation?
A
- Filtration
- Reabsorption
- Secretion
(4) Additional–Excretion
3
Q
Explain all the 3 processes of urine formation
A
- Filtration–The excretory system tubule collects a Filtrate from the blood
- Reabsorption– The transport epithelium reclaims valuable substances from the filtrate and returns them to the body fluids.
- Secretion– Non-essential solutes, toxins and wastes are added to the contents of the excretory tubule from body fluids.
- Excretion— The altered Filtrate(urine) leaves the system and the body.
4
Q
Where does filtration occur?
A
It occurs in the renal corpuscle
5
Q
What is the role of the Afferent arteriole?
A
Brings in blood from the renal artery
6
Q
What is the role of the efferent arteriole?
A
Transports Blood out of the glomerulus.
