Nervous System Flashcards
Basic nervous system path
Stimulus Receptor Information is sent to the brain (CNS) which coordinates what response is required Effector usually a muscle Response
Purpose of the iris
Controls light entering the eye
Pupil
Space between iris which light passes through
Cornea
Transparent front part of the eye that allows light to enter the eye causes some refraction.
Conjuctiva
Thin transparent protective covering
Retina
Light sensitive cells are found
Lens
Refracts light
Optic nerve
Optic nerve contains neurones carrying info to the brain
Process of focus in on a distant object
Cilary muscles relax, causing the suspensary ligaments to become taught causing the lens to become thinner. Less refraction of light
Near object
Ciliary muscles contract causing the suspensory ligaments to become loose and the lens buldges to form a sharp image
