Nerves of UE Flashcards
Musculocutaneous
C5-7
Anterior/lateral to axillary artery
What muscle does MC pierce?
Coracobrachialis then goes btw brachialis and biceps brachii
What is after MC?
lateral antebrachial cutaenous nerve
radial side of forearm, lateral to biceps tendon
Ulnar nerve
c7-T1
anterior and medial to axillary artery
What does Ulnar pierce?
intermuscular septum and goes under Arcade of Struthers
What is Arcade of Struthers?
aponeurotic band/ canal
btwn IM septum and medial head of triceps
proximal to medial epicondyle
What tunnel does ulnar pass through?
Cubital Tunnel
What are borders of cubital tunnel?
Roof: arcuate ligament of osborne
(prevents subluxation of ulnar nerve)
Floor: MCL on floor
What muscles does ulnar go between to get to anterior ante brachium?
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
What distal tunnel does ulnar pass through?
Guyon’s Tunnel
Borders of Guyon’s Tunnel
Floor-transverse carpal
Roof- Pisohamate ligament
What does ulnar split into after Guyon’s?
Deep- motor
Superficial- sensory
Radial Nerve
C5-T1
posterior to axillary artery
What space does Radial pass through?
Triangular interval
Radial nerve relationship to muscle?
deep to lateral head of triceps
pierces IM septum—-btwn brachialis and brachioradialis
What tunnel does radial pass through?
Radial Tunnel
Borders of radial tunnel?
Fibrous edge of ECRB and arcade of Froshe and then splits into deep and superficial radial
What is path of deep radial?
after tunnel goes under Arcade of Froshe
pierces supinator and then becomes PIN
Path of Superficial radial?
Deep to brachioradialis, emerges posterior to distal tendon, roof of snuff box
innervates lateral dorm of hand only sensory
Median Nerve
c5-T1
1/2 medial - 1/2 lateral cord
anterior to axillary artery
Path in Brachium
anterior brachium, medial to biceps brachii
What ligament does median pass under?
Ligament of struthers
medial epicondyle- supracondylar process
What does it run with in cubital fossa?
medial to brachial artery and biceps tendon
What muscle does median go through?
Pronator Teres
What nerve does Median give off?
AIN
Orientation of Median at wrist?
lateral to FDS, gives off cutaneous branch before going into carpal tunnel
Sensory innervation of median?
skin of lateral palm and dorsal tips of 3.5 fingers
