What are the segmental roots of the brachial plexus?
C5-T1
What are the branches of the lateral cord?
Lateral root median nerve, lateral pectoral nerve, musculocutaneous nerve
What are the branches of the medial cord?
Medial pectoral nerve, medial root median nerve, medial cutaneous nerve of arm and forearm
What are the branches of the posterior cord?
Thoracodorsal nerve, axillary nerve, radial nerve, subscapular nerve
What does the musculocutaneous nerve give sensory supply to?
skin of lateral forearm
What muscles does the musculocutaneous nerve innervate?
biceps brachii, brachialis and coracopbrachialis
What does the axillary nerve give sensory supply to?
a “sergaent’s patch” of skin on the lower deltoid
What muscles does the axillary nerve supply?
deltoid and teres minor
What does the radial nerve give sensory supply to?
posterior arm and forearm, lateral 2/3 dorsum of hand, proximal dorsal aspect of lateral 3.5 fingers (thumb, index, middle and half of ring)
What muscles of the arm and forearm does the radial nerve supply?
triceps, brachioradialis, anconeus, supinator, extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis, extensor carpi ulnaris
What does the medial nerve give sensory supply to?
lateral 2/3 palm of hand, palmar aspect of lateral 3.5 fingers, dorsal aspect of lateral 3.5 fingertips
What muscles of the arm and forearm does the median nerve supply?
pronator teres, pronator quadratus, flexor carpi radialis, palmaris longus
What does the ulnar nerve give sensory supply to?
medial 1/3 palm of hand, palmar aspect medial 1.5 fingers, medial 1/3 dorsum of hand, dorsal aspect medial 1.5 fingers
What muscles of the arm and forearm does the ulnar nerve supply?
flexor carpi ulnaris and ulnar half of flexor digitorum profundus
