Nerves 2 Flashcards
Largest Cranial Nerve
Trigeminal
Trigeminal Ganglion
bulge
Ophthalmic
[V1] superior orbital fissure. smallest division. sensory for eye, oribit, forehead, etc.
3 Major Nerves forming Ophthalmic
frontal, lacrimal, nasocillary
Frontal Nerve
supraorbital (forehead, scalp) + supratrochlear (bridge of the nose, medial eyelid, forhead)
Lacrimal Nerve
upper eyelid, lacrimal gland - Parasympathetic Trunk = tears!
Nasociliary Nerve
medial eyelid, side of the nose, eyeball, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses
Maxillary Nerve Branches
zygomatic, anterior/middle/posterior superior alveolar, greater/lesser palatine, nasopalatine
Maxillary Nerve
[V2] pterygopalatine fossa, foreman rotundum, sensory for maxilla and skin, maxillary sinus and nasal cavity, palate, nasopharynx, dura mater
Zygomatic Nerve
afferent sensory. skin, cheek, temple
Infraorbital Nerve
afferent sensory. upper lip, medial cheek, lower eyelid, side of the nose. joins w asa/psa
Anterior Superior Alveolar
afferent sensory. maxillary central/lateral incisors and canines - can cross innervate contralateral
Middle Superior Alveolar
afferent sensory. maxillary premolars + MB root of 1st molar *not present in all pts
Posterior Superior Alveolar
afferent sensory. maxillary DB root 1st molar + 2nd/3rd molars
Greater + Lesser Palatine Nerves
GP = hard palate LP = soft palate + tonsils
