Nerves Flashcards
Sciatic Nerve
L4-S3
From the greater sciatic nerve either under, through and over piriformis between ischial tuberosity and greater trochanter, through posterior thigh splits above the knee to tibial and common fibular nerve. Innervates bicep femoris, semitendinosus(hamstrings)
Ulnar nerve
C8-T1
Derives from the medial cord, between anterior and middle scalene, under clavicle, under scapula down to anterior forearm, fingers 4,5. Innervates flexors( FDU,FCU)
Radial Nerve
C5-T1
Derived from the posterior cord, b/between anterior and middle scalene, under clavicle, under scapula to middle of scapula, down to posterior arm. Innervates tricep brachii, brachioradialis….
Median Nerve
C5-T1
Derived from medial and lateral cord, between anterior and middle scalene, under clavicle, under scapula down to anterior forearm, down to thumb, 2-3 and half of the 4th finger through carpal tunnel. Innervates flexors, pronator teres and pronator quadrotum
Musculocutaneous
C5-C7
Derive from the lateral cord
Upper arm only
Innervates coracobrachialis, brachialis and bicep brachii
Femoral nerve
L2-L4
Pathway more medial to the thigh;and stays above the knee
Innervates hip flexors and knee extensors(quads)
Fibular nerve
Wraps around the head of the fibula innervating lateral and anterior aspect of the leg
Innevates TA, Extensors group
Tibial Nerve
Runs down the back of posterior leg medially to the plantar surface of foot Innervates tricep surae and tp, fdl,fhl
