Elbow Special Test Flashcards
Pronator teres test
Assess for pronator teres syndrome/median nerve compression
Mill’s Test
Lateral epicondylitis or golfer’s elbow
Medial epicondylitis test
Assess for Medial epicondylitis or tennis Elbow
Froment sign Test
Assess for cubital tunnel/guyons canal
(Tag of war of paper) weak grip due to ulnar nerve compression
Phalen’s Sign Test
Assess for carpal tunnel syndrome(median nerve compression )
Tinnels sign
Assess for carpal tunnel syndrome (median neve compression against carpal tunnel and carpal bones) tap, tap, tap
Finkelstein test
Assess for de Quervain’s Tenosynovitis, (inflammation of the synovial sheath)
Flex thumb in the palm surface of the hand with the fingers over the thumb. Ulnar deviation or abduction of the wirst. Pain felt is positive.
Elbow flexion test
Assess for cubital tunnel syndrome, (ulnar nerve compression)
Flex elbow with wrist hyperextended. Hold for 60seconds
Positive sign of elbow flexion test
Pain is felt
At ulnar nerve distribution medial arm to pinky
Pinch grip test
Assess for adductor policis strength
Positive sign for pinch grip test and how
Unable to perform the test without hyperextending dip joint.
Ask client to do okay sign.
How to test pronator teres test
Stabilize elbow, resist pronation in extend arm. Pain in median merve distribution
Mill’s Test
Pin the CET at the distal epicondyle. Pronate arm and extend elbow.then flex wrist. Positive is pain at affected tendons
Medial epicodylitis Test
Pin CFT just distal to the medial epicondyle then supinate and extend arm then extend the wrist. Pain felt at the affected tendon is positive sign
De quervain’s tenosynovitis test or Finkelstein Test
Flex thumb against the palm of hand, fingers over the thumb, bring wrist to ulnar deviation. Pain in the anatomical box is positive of De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis of inglammation of synovial sheath of the thumb
