Where should the tip of the ET tube sit?
Between T1 - T3
Where should the tip of the NG Tube sit?
Tip into the stomach - ensure through the gastro-oesophageal junctions

What is that age of a Neonate?
Under 28 days
What does UAC stand for?
Umbilical arterial catheter
What does UVC stand for?
Umbilical venous catheter
What does RDS stand for?
Respiratory distress syndrome
What are Preterm RDS appearances on CXR?
Symmetrical , uniform granularity bilaterally.
Low volume lungs, often not seen due to positive pressure ventilation
What treatment is given for RDS?
Surfactant is given into the lungs
What happens Without Surfactant in RDS?
Small stiff lungs which dont expand very well
Babies > 32 weeks lack surfactant
Surfactant affects the surface tension of the alveoli
Which film would you do for UVC or UAC
Chest abdo
Where should the tip of the UVC tip sit?
Atriocaval junction - green
IVC , hepatic vein, ductus venosus - orange
Where should the UAC tip sit?
Descending thoracic aorta - green
Between T6 and T11
Lower safe zone - below the renal arteries ( around L2 )
Must be above the bifurcation ( around L4) - orange
What would you see in a Pneumothorax in supine babies?
Gas will float to the highest point - anterior chest
Whole lung more lucient
In adults air will rise to to the top of the chest
What are babies Before 28 weeks considered?
Pre term
