negation : Ngali / Nge Flashcards
what do you add right after the subject prefix to negate these forms?
- ” si “ , so it would go after the subject (ex. U ) and before the condition (Ngali or Nge) .. Usingali…
- translate nglai example : “ Had you not told him, he would not have gone”
- the second part is the result of the first part (the condition) .. that’s how to tell between ngali & Nge.
- meaning if the the person would not have happened if it were not for the first person telling him
” Usinaglimwambia, asinalienda”
- translate nglai example : “had I not cooked, she would not have eaten”
- meaning the only reason she ate is because the first person cooked.
” Nisingalipika, asinaglikula”
- translate Nge example : “were I not to tell him, he would not go “
” usingemwambia, asingeenda”
Translate Nge example “were I ( or if I chose to) not study, I would not pass the exam”
