What should you note about neck swellings?
Position Size Shape Mobility Consistency Associated lymphadenopathy
What may cervical lymphadenopathy signify?
Infection
Malignancy
haematological - leukaemia/lymphoma
What are systemic symptoms of cervical lymphadenopathy?
fever, weight loss, sweats
What are specific symptoms of cervical lymphadenopathy?
hoarseness, cough, dyspnoea
What background information would be useful with suspected lymphadenopathy?
Recent immigrant
Recent travel abroad
With suspected cervical lymphadenopathy, what should you always do?
Look for other nodes
Look for primary sites
Look for hepatosplenomegaly
What investigations would be used for suspected cervical lymphadenopathy?
