What are the boundaries of the neck?
Mandible, clavicle, anterior midline and trapezius
What are the boundaries of the anterior triangle?
Midlineof the neck and anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid
What are the boundaries of the posterior triangle?
Posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid and anterior border of the trapezius
What arteries are found in the anterior triangle?
Common carotid, ECA, facial and ICA
What nerves are found in the anterior triangle?
Hypoglossal, vagus, glossopharyngeal, accessory and laryngeal
What veins are found in the anterior triangle?
Internal jugular and facial
What lymph nodes are found in the anterior triangle?
Submandibular and submental
What are the contents of the posterior triangle?
Accessory nerve, occipital artery, cervical nerve plexus, external jugular vein and lymph nodes
What are the indications for central lines?
Central venous pressure, drug administration, cardiac pacing, blood sampling, fluid resuscitation, haemodialysis and IV nutrition
What are the complications of a central line?
Pneumothorax, air embolism, thrombosis, haematoma, chylothorax, sepsis, cardiac tamponade, false passage and line blockage
What structures do the parotid nodes drain?
Scalp, face and parotid gland
What structures do the superficial cervical nodes drain?
Breasts and solid viscera
What structure does the occipital nodes drain?
Scalp
What structures do the deep cervical nodes drain?
Final drainage to the thoracic duct
What structures do the submandibular nodes drain?
Tongue, nose, paranasal sinuses, submandibular gland and oral cavity
