Navigation Flashcards
Radio navigation. The airplane is equipped with?
- Two navigation receivers
- Two DME receivers
- Marker beacon(MB)
How many IRUs are in the airplane, and where are they located?
Three and located under the left and right console.
Explain the IRUs
Each IRU contains accelerometers and laser gyros to measure inertial motion. They receive initialization data from GNSS, and altitude and airspeed from air data systems probes.
IRUs provide information to what systems?
IRUs provide display units and various aircraft systems with aircraft attitude, heading, wind speed and direction, and flight path.
When does the IRUs execute an automatic alignment process?
At start-up
True or False
With regards to IRU positioning, manually entered position does not have priority over any GNSS position?
False.
Manually entered position have priority.
What are the different alignment time variations?
Varies with Latitude:
- 5 mins @ 0 degree latitude;
- 10 mins between 60 and 70 degrees of latitude;
- 17 mins above 70 degrees of latitude.
What does GNSS stand for and purpose?
Global Navigation Satellite System: provides aircraft position, speed, and time data to the FMS, IRS, terrain awareness system(TAWS), and surface management system.
