Nature and Scope of Social Policies Flashcards
According to Dye (1978), there are three elements of a policy system:
Policy Stakeholders
Policy Environment
Public Policies
Policy Stakeholders may compose of the following -
Government
Non-government organizations
Community-based organizations
Civil society, labor unions
Individuals and groups that are affected by policies implemented or to be implemented.
May include situations where policies should be implemented/amended like
crime rate, inflation rate, mortality and birth rate, informal settlers, climate
change-related occurrences, and other issues that may affect the policy
formulation and implementation.
Policy Environment
This may include policies on law enforcement, economic concerns, welfare of the state, environmental integrity, and others.
Public Policy
are individuals, groups, or organizations that have an interest or are affected by a particular policy or decision. They play crucial roles in the policymaking process by influencing, shaping, or implementing policies.
