National curriculum- national curriculum supports the ideology of nationalism and that history lessons, in particular, are a key factor in creating national identity.

Socialised into culture- all British people are socialised into a common national culture and identity through: a common language, education, national rituals, symbols, the mass media and the mass production of fashion and taste.
Kumar - National
Diluting Englishness- unlike the scots, welsh and Irish, the English find it difficult to say who they are, and that English national identity is elusive. The quest to expand Britishness may have diluted Englishness.
Hewitt - National
White Backlash- from the white working-class against what they perceived to be preferred preferential treatment of ethnic minorities. They felt victimised as fights with non-Brits were perceived as racist, shows how education creates and reinforces identities.
Hall - National
Globalisation- countries may display three different reactions to globalisation: full acceptance, countries become similar (cultural homogenisation), partial acceptance, new but still individual cultures (cultural hybridity) and rejection, protecting existing cultures (cultural resistance).
Fairweather and Rogerson - National
Cultural homogenisation- may occur due to computer software, advertising, antisocial behaviour, or digital communication does not give rules or police morality and ethics.
