What was the Risorgimento?
It was an Italian movement where thinkers and writers tried to revive Italy’s traditions.
Its goal was liberation and unification.

Bismarck decided the onlyway to unite the Southern states was to provoke a war with France.
Because the French had no help, the Prussians defeated them easily.
- France lost Alsace and par of Lorraine, and payed a huge indemnity

He led an army of 1,100 soldiers into Sicily to seize control of it.
He took Naples, the capital ciy, and drove Francis II and his troops north to the border of the Papal states.
