NASPO Flashcards
- What does NASPO do?
a. NASPO is a part of CASG. It supports the sustainment of the Romeo (TESSU), (HATS) (the Helicopter Aircrew Training System), (MASU) Maritime Aviation Support Unit and Maritime Uncrewed Aerial Systems (MUAS)
- What is TESSU?
a. TESSU is the core engineering design and technical support organisation within NASPO. TESSU is primarily responsible for fulfilling MTCH obligations and CAM support.
- What is MASU?
a. It is maritime aviation support unit. It provides Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), including engineering services, of maritime aviation equipment on board RAN air capable platforms. (ALSE, GSE)It provides technical support such as whether it is fit for purpose and safety for GSE, ALSE and ADE (Air deployable element)
- What is MUAS?
a. It is Maritime Uncrewed Aerial Systems. It support the sustainment of Schiebel S-100 Camcopter. ScanEagle UAS is retired.
b. S-100 provides a Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL)
- What is HATS?
a. Its Helicopter Aircrew training system. It provides Navy and Army pilot, AvWo, Aircrewman, Mission Sensor Employment Course (MSEC) and instructor training courses to sustain operational capability.
- What are the responsibilities of MTCH?
a. keeping an eye out for occurrence reporting such as Malfultion, defects and deficienceies of design whether it is from US or USN rectification requirement.
b. Flourish one complete set of ICA
c. Maintain, update master copies of all TCB manual.
d. integration of weapon and system.
What are the roles of Chief engineer?
a. DoSa (Delegate of safety authority) and works for DASA.
b. Chief of office of airworthiness
c. MTCH representatives.
d. Chief of SPO
What are the responsibilities of Chief of office of Aw?
a. preparation of CPP.
b. liaison with DASA during Type Investigation.
c. Management of DOE.
d. Interpretation of Aw requirements
e. Classification of deisgn changes and repair changes.
f . Independent checking of showings of compliance.
g. Collection of design failure and defect information
h. Assisting in preparation of AD.
I. Approval of minor design changes and repair design.
o fulfil the requirements of DASR 21.A.243 (a). The Office of Airworthiness is headed by the Chief of Office of Airworthiness (COAw) who performs, monitors and assures the duties Office of Airworthiness. All NASPO Compliance Verification Engineers (CVEs), whilst embedded in various NASPO platforms, are responsible to the COAw for all CVE activites they perform. COAw provides support and reports directly to NASPO HoDO.
What is Seahawk PSU?
Production support unit.
It supports logistics, engineering and configuration sustainment.
Liaison with Foreign Military Sales and commercial contractors.
What does MTCH ensures?
a. Design remains safe (Failures, Malfunctions, defects)
b. changes to design consider CRE.
c. ICA/OIP available for users.
d. integrate system and weapons onto the aircraft.
e. ASI and ESI assessments.
What does CAM-SO do?
a. update and promulgate the AMp.
c. Issue engineering orders for mods.
d. Upkeep weight and balance.
e. Recording structural repairs.
What does MDOA 21J?
a. Technical information review/request for information.
b. Most essential function links into the other sections.
what is Navy and Army Aviation Acquisition Program Office ?
o Undertakes engineering and design activities related to RAN Aviation Acquisition engineering acceptance/certification and major changes to in service platforms. The office is also responsible for certification of capability inserts acquired through the future MH-60R Capability Assurance Program (CAP).
What is REO?
It is a Romeo Enterprise organisation. It is now Romeo Project office plus NASPO PSU section.
What are the functions of NASPO?
NASPO has four functions.
- TIR
- MTCH
- MDO
- CAM service provider
- SPO
TIR is the most essential functions that triage the information request and it make sure that 3 functions are engaged in a correct order and in a manner that does not compromise safety and certification of an aircraft and defence personnel.
1.Safety alert information (SAI) sit within the TIR process. System safety engineer will perform a hazard assessment and outcome of it is to determine potential unsafe condition or noteworthy risk in relation to aviation safety, WHS and DASR compliance. SSE have to report to CHIEF engineer immediattly and CE will have to notify DASA within 72 hours and provide appropriate action to CAMO and MO. The concern will be included in drafting HAR and store those assessment in HAR if we cannot eliminate.
- As CE is DOSA, reporting to CE fullfill the requirement to submit form 44 to dasa. If it is outside of DOSA delegation, CE has to report the form 44 to DASA.
For the MTCH, MTCH has to ensure that type design of an aircraft remains safe within TCB, and any design changes applicable to CRE. So that, MTC remain valid, and all operating and maintenance manuals are available for users.
1.we need to have a system in place to manage latent design defects between MTCH and MO. so that, MTCH representative can keep an eye out for occurrence reporting such as form 44, EIR, AE061.
MDO look at classification of major or minor design and repair changes. NASPO has privileges to approve minor design and repair changes. But for major design changes., it has got to be approved by DASA. Thats where chief engineers will wear Chief of office of airworthiness to process CPP. When we can leverage off USN data, CPP process can be shorten through compliance demonstration evidence to get it approved.
CAM-services
- Promulgation of AMD
- update and upkeep W and Balance record system
- issue Eng order
- CAMM2 Policy
SPO
It is a through life support and sustainment functions. It includes finances, logistics, businesses.
