Beaus lines
Visible depressions running across the width of the natural nail plate
Blue fingernails
Color of the nail bed, usually from lack of circulating oxygen in the red blood cells
Eggshell nails
Noticeably thin, white nail plates that are more flexible then normal.
Usually from improper diet, hereditary, internal disease or medication
Onychophagy
Bitten nails, result of chewing the nail
Spilnter hemorrhage
Caused by physical trauma or injury to the nail bed that damaged the capillaries and allows small amounts of blood flow
Onychauxis
Thicking of the nails
Onychogryposis
Enlargement of the fingernails or toenails. Thicking and curvature.
Nail pterygium
Abnormal condition that occurs when the skin is stretched bu the nail plate. Usually from serious injury
Pincer nail
Curve in on its self
Nail plate
Hardened keratin plate that side on and cover the nail bed.
Free edge
Part of the nail plate that extends over the tip of the finger
Nail bed
Portion of living skin that supports the nail place as it grows towards the free edge.
Matrix , and lunula ?
Matrix- Where the nail plate cells are formed
Lunula- Whiteish color half moon shape underneath the base of the skin
Cuticle
Dead colorless tissue attached to the natural nail plate.
Eponychium
Living skin at the base of the natural nail plate covering the matrix
