Important dermatomes
Upper limb
C5- anterior stops at wrist. in between T1 and C6
C6- outside of arm
C7- posterior arm
C8- inside ulnar part of arm
T1- Inside arm and across chest in corresponding rib section.
C5 myotome
Deltoids
C6 myotome
wrist extensors
C7 myotome
Elbow extensors
C8 myotome
Long finger flexors
T1 myotome
Small hand muscles
L2 myotome
Hip flexor
L,3 myotome
Knee extensors
L4-5 (s1 hamstrings) myotome
Knee flexion, ankle dorsiflexion
L5 myotome
ankle dorsiflexors and long toe extensors
S1 myotome
Ankle plantar flexion
ASIA classification
A- complete: no motor or sensory preserved in sacral segments.
B- Incomplete: sensory, no motor function in sacral
C- Incomplete- lower than 3 power graded
D- Incomplete- higher than 3 graded.
Central cord syndrome
flaccid weakness of arms> legs
Some lower extremity movement and sensation preserved
Anterior cord syndrom
Loss of motor
Decreased pain and sensation below lesion
Posterior cord syndrom
Proprioception affected- ataxia
usually good power and sensation
