Myocardial Infarction Flashcards
ST Segment Depression is associated with what type of injury?
Ischemia
ST Segment Elevation is associated with what type of injury?
STEMI
A wide QRS complex is associated with what type of injury?
Infarction
What are three qualifications of a STEMI?
1) ST elevation of greater than 2 mm at J point in V2-V3 in Men
2) > 1.5 mm in woman (absence of LVH)
3) > in two or more contiguous chest or limb leads
What is the difference between a 1) NSTEMI 2) NSTE ACS
1) NSTEMI: Chest pain, ST segment depression, T wave inversion, elevated cardiac enzymes
2) NSTE ACS (Non ST segment elevated Acute Coronary Syndrome): ST segment depression, T wave inversion, Chest pain. Normal cardiac enzymes.
What general EKG feature is indicative of Ischemia ?
Inverted T waves, peaked T waves
What is a characteristic change to tissues which has suffered an infarction?
Lacking depolarization
What is a characteristic change to tissues which has suffered ischemia?
Impaired repolarization
What are the leads and artery associated with an anterior wall infarction?
LAD; V1-V7
What are the leads and artery associated with an inferior wall infarction?
RCA; II, III, AVF, V3-R –> V6R
What are the leads and artery associated with a lateral wall infarction?
Circumflex A; I, AVL
What are the leads and artery associated with a posterior wall infarction?
Posterior descending Artery; V1-V3
Death or infarction of tissue causes what on EKG?
Q or Q/S waves
What event is signified by the presence of a significant Q wave & persistent ST segment elevation?
Aneurysm development
