Note: To make accurate records you must have accurate information. Make sure that all reference data is applicable to the job at hand.

A. Serial Number
1. Will assist you in determining if reference data applies to aircraft.

If I know the serial number of my airplane, I can know which parts my plane needs.

If you want to see updated parts that belong on an airplane, look in the IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalog) which you can find via the serial number.

1. Compliance may not be mandatory but is highly recommended.
2. Can be used as reference data in an airworthiness directive.
3. Warns the owner/operator and mechanics of design defects.
4. Aircraft records should contain a log of service bulletins which have been complied with.
