mw- Information processing Flashcards
What is the input stage?
Performer uses senses to pick up information from the display
what is the decision making stage?
uses the process of selective attention and the memory system
what is the output stage
is the effector mechanism and muscular output
what is the effector mechanism?
network of nerves. Delivers information to the muscles
what is muscular output?
will receive the information in the form of coded impulses. The muscles then contract and then the responses can begin.
What is the perceptual stage (DCR)?
D= DETECTION. The performer has picked up the relevant information C= COMPARISON. Involves matching the information to the memory R= RECOGNITION. Means the performer has used information from memory to identify an appropriate response.
What is the Translatory Mechanism?
helps convert information so that decisions can be made. Uses past experiences to help with this.
What is selective attention?
a process that helps the performer filter relevant information from the irrelevant information
What is the order of whitings model
- environment
- display
- sensory organs
- perceptual mechanisms
- translator mechanisms
- effector mechanisms
- muscular system
- feedback
what is feedback?
information used during or after the response to aid movement.
