Axil Skeleton
Skull, Vertebral column, sternum, and ribs. Function: To provide main axil support for the body and protect the central nervous system and organs of the Thorax.
Vertebral column
Consist of 33 vertebrate categorized by 5 regions cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum, and coccyx.
Vertebral column: Cervical Curve
The neck area containing 7 vertebrae which are the smallest and most delicate.
Vertebral column: Thoracic Curve
Contains 12 thoracic vertebrae each connecting to a rib.
Vertebral column: Lumbar Curve
Contains 5 lumbar vertebrae
Vertebral column: Sacrum
Contains 5 fused vertebrae
Vertebral column: Coccyx
Contains 4 fused vertebrae
Appendicular Skeleton
Includes the bones of the upper and lower limbs and the shoulder (pectoral) and pelvic (hip) girdles.
Pelvic Girdle
The ilium, ischium, and the pubis
Shoulder Girdle
The clavicle and the scapula.
3 main types of joints
fibrous, cartilaginous, and synovial
Fibrous Joints
Held together by fibrous connective tissues and allow little to no movement.
Cartilaginous Joints
Bones connected by cartilage and little to no movement Is allowed.
Synovial Joints
The most common type of joint in the body and are freely movable.
