Semispinalis
O : TVP of C7-T10 and articular processes of C4-C6
I : SP of C2-T4 and the occipital bone
A :
1. Extends the trunk, neck and head at the spinal joints
2. Contralaterally rotates the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
Semispinalis Capitis
O : TVPs of C7-T6 and articular tubercles of C4-C6
I : Occipital bone between the superior and inferior nuchal lines
A :
1. Extends the trunk, neck and head at the spinal joints
2. Contralaterally rotates the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
Multifidus
O : Posterior sacrum, posterior superior iliac spine, posterior sacroiliac ligament and L5-C4
I : SP of vertebrae 3-4 segmental levels superior to the inferior attachment
A :
1. Extends the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
2. Laterally flexes and contralaterally rotates the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
Rotatores
O : TVP inferiorly
I : Lamina superior, spanning 1-2 segmental levels superior to the inferior attachment
A :
1. Extends the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
2. Laterally rotates the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
3. Contralaterally rotates the trunk and neck at the spinal joints
