Insertion- lesser trochanter of the femur

Functions-

Origin- upper iliac fossa and anterior inferior iliac spine and sacral ala

Insertion- lesser trochanter of the femur

A

Origin- posterior iliac crest, posterolateral sacrum and the Coccyx

Insertion- iliotibial band and the gluteal tuberosity of the femur

Abducts the thigh (upper 1/3) and adducts (lower 2/3) at the hip joint
