O- 1. AIIS 2. Ilium superior to acetabulum I- Via Quadriceps tendon to base of patella Indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity N- Femoral L2, L3, L4 A- 1. Extend leg at knee joint 2. Steadies hip joint 3. Helps iliopsoas flex thigh
Vastus Lateralis
O- 1. Greater trochanter
2. Lateral lip of linea aspera
I- Via Quadriceps tendon to base of patella
Indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
To Tibia and patella via Lateral Patellar Retinacula
N- Femoral L2, L3, L4
A- Extend leg at knee joint
Vastus Medialis
O- 1. Intertrochanteric line
2. Medial Lip of Linea Aspera
I- Via Quadriceps tendon to base of patella
Indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
To Tibia and Patella via Medial Patellar Retinacula
A- Extend leg at knee joint
Vastus Intermedius
O- Anterior and lateral surfaces of shaft of femur
I- Via Quadriceps tendon to base of patella
Indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
N- Femoral L2 L3 L4
A- Extend leg at knee joint
