Muscles Flashcards
Origin of gastrocnemius
Condyles of the femur, posterior surfaces.
Origin of the soleus
Proximal, posterior surface of the tibia, posterior aspect of the head of the fibula.
Origin of fibularis longus
Head of the fibula, proximal 2/3s of the lateral fibula.
Origin of tibialis anterior
Lateral condyle of the tibia, proximal lateral surface of the tibia, interosseous membrane.
Origin of extensor digitorum longus
Lateral condyle of the tibia, proximal anterior shaft of the fibula, interosseous membrane.
Insertion of gastrocnemius
Posterior calcaneus via the calcaneal tendon.
Insertion of soleus
Posterior calcaneus via the calcaneal tendon
Insertion of the fibularis longus
Base of the first metatarsal and the medial cuneiform
Insertion of the tibialis anterior
Medial cuneiform and the base of the first metatarsal
Insertion of the extensor digitorum longus
Middle and distal phalanges of the second through fifth toes.
Actions of gastrocnemius
Flexes the tibiofemoral joint and plantarflexes the talocrural joint.
Actions of Soleus
Plantarflexes the talocrural joint.
Actions of fibularis longus
Everts the subtalar joint and assists in plantarflexion of the talocrural joint.
Actions of tibialis anterior
Inverts the subtalar joint and dorsiflexes the talocrural joint.
Actions of extensor digitorum longus
Extends the second through fifth toes, dorsiflexes the talocrural joint and everts the subtalar joint.
