Q

Describe how the diaphragm allows you to breath

A

Main muscle: Diaphragm
When it contracts it causes air to enter the lungs.
When the diaphragm relaxes air is expelled from the lungs.
To assist the external intercostal elevate the ribs creating a negative pressure in the lungs to bring air in. When the diaphragm relaxes the internal intercostal depresses the ribs creating positive pressure helping to expel air out.
